Run Britain Days 152-153: Tain to Fortrose
A wonderful day spent running, laughing, chatting and dancing with Katie. I also got recognised in a cafe near Invergordon which was quite exciting. And we camped in a beautiful spot near the river.
Katie and I used to do a lot of dancing, singing and general silliness. But when I was really struggling, I couldn’t imagine ever being able to dance or sing or be ridiculous again.
And even when I started getting better, it wasn’t that I felt desperately sad anymore. There was an emptiness that meant dancing and singing weren’t interesting to me. I just didn’t have the energy.
A little over 3500 miles of running will sort out.
Katie and I spent the morning catching up (I haven’t seen her since I started running in October) and the afternoon deciding which song would be the best to use in a reel for Instagram (we’re not stingy with our performances, we want the world to see).
We went for Ricky Martin and I think we smashed it. But I do fear that the dancing on top of Katie’s longest ever day of running (almost the whole marathon distance) may have caused a few unnecessary niggles. She spent her second visiting day mainly with Lottie in the van - although I suppose this allowed her to experience both sides of Run Britain.
I enjoyed some beautiful sunshine on the roads around Cromarty and was joined for my final few miles into Fortrose by Claire. Grateful for company as always - especially as Claire directed me to a trail which I probably wouldn’t have found if I was on my own.
