Run Britain Day 154: Fortrose to Inverness

This morning, I managed to find myself on a trail again. I perhaps got a little bit carried away with the excitement of not running on a road and decided to run deep into a forest which wasn’t actually on the coast. It was lovely.

But it was also hot. Very hot. The kind of heat which I absolutely love running in, but am perhaps not currently acclimated to. I don’t think I drank enough water. By the time I reached Lottie in Beauly, I was absolutely exhausted.

I’ve really loved the running around the Black Isle (that peninsula that sits just above Inverness). I have been lucky with the weather and it has been stunning. I’ve also been joined by friendly company who have shown me the best routes and kept me entertained.

But the excitement of the last few days is definitely catching up on me. Today was the most tired I have felt in a very long time. I had to have a lunchtime nap and only just managed to drag myself around the final 5 miles to finish off the distance for the day.

I’ve also developed blisters, for the first time in several months. Which is strange and frustrating. And I have finished today just shy of my first city since Glasgow. And I’m not feeling especially positive about that either.
