Run Britain days 58-59: Swansea to Loughor (The Gower Penisnula)

I had been looking forward to running on The Gower - Britain’s first area of outstanding natural beauty. And it really is spectacular. But I think it is probably more spectacular when it’s not a complete washout.

On Sunday, Shadow and I were joined by local trail runner Hugh, whose help around the more rugged parts of the Gower was much appreciated. Shadow had the best day of running and then slept all day on Monday.

I was back out again and braced for truly awful weather as the rain warnings were in place again. And driving through an enormous flood on my way back to Rhossili was slightly concerning. But although my view of Rhossili Beach was maybe not as beautiful as it could have been, I had the whole 5km of perfect sand completely to myself. And actually the weather wasn’t as bad as I expected.

But after slipping and sliding on the mud, I retreated to the road for a very wet afternoon. And then I had to fend for myself in Tesco for the first time in several weeks.
