Run Britain Day 94: Into Scotland

Sarah Perry is a bit of a legend in women’s ultra running. Since I started running the coastline of Britain, she has won three major events, including the world championships in Backyard Ultra - where contestants complete as many laps of a 6km loop as possible, once loop on the hour, every hour. Sarah managed 96.

It was a real privilege to be joined by such a titan of the ultra running world this morning.

But apart from being an incredibly good runner, Sarah is lovely. Another friend for life who I have met on this incredible adventure and another kindred spirit who found her way in the world with the help of running and a lovely dog.

Another bonus of day 94 was making it into Scotland in beautiful sunshine. I was disappointed not the be greeted by kilt-wearing bagpipers in Gretna. In fact, the lady in the lovely cafe we stopped in for lunch just across the border was English.

But I am sure I will get my hit of ‘Scots’ over the next couple of months. I will be in Scotland until the middle of April.
