Run Britain Day 86: Silverdale to Grange
I’ve run into Cumbria where the coast path still hasn’t picked back up again and the route is truly terrible.
There is an excellent train line which cuts across all the estuaries, but no footpath along it.
It’s tempting to jump up onto the train line and just run along it (something that I know others who have run the coastline of Britain have done). It’s even more tempting to walk out across the sands at low tide (although that becomes less tempting on discovering how dangerous the shifting sands are).
I had some lovely company today though in the form of Cat, who chased me down for several kilometres and then guided me helpfully around the best route.
I also got to meet her son, who has the most fantastic grasp of the maths element of my challenge (if I am running 5240 miles in total over 200 days, what is the average daily distance, and if I end up taking 204 days, how will my daily average change - that sort of thing). I also finished my running day by lunchtime, which is always a massive bonus.
