Run Britain day 80: Completing Wales
After 26 days, I have completed Wales.
A great final morning along some of the loveliest beaches on the north coast of Wales, with Snowdonia behind me and the docks of Liverpool materialising ahead of me. I did have to climb up the biggest sand dune on the coast so far. But then, after skirting around the River Dee, I was back in England.
Just like the South West Coast Path, completing Wales feels like a significant milestone and it’s also taken me almost exactly the same amount of time as the SWCP.
My uncle took an amazing picture of the Liverpool docks when he walked the coastline of Britain, so I picked up the pace in the afternoon to try to make it to the banks of the Mersey in time to capture my own version. I didn’t quite make it, but I did my best from a distance.
Mum came to pick me up from my finish spot today, which was a relief because once the sun dropped below the horizon it was absolutely freezing. And I haven’t seen her since the end of October, so it’s nice to be reunited for a few days.
