Run Britain Day 62: From St Clears to Tenby

Today I am ashamed to say I lost my temper.

The morning running through damp, grey west Wales was fine. I stuck to the road, where the views weren’t great, but at least I could run. I also got a glimpse of Pendine Sands (the massive beach where crazy people attempt to break land speed records) through the rain.

I spent some happy hours pondering my order of preference of the Harry Potter series (inspired by the fact that I am currently making my way through the full cast recording series on Audible).

And lunch was also pretty good at a lovely pub in Amroth.

But it was after lunch that things went downhill. Perhaps my mood wasn’t helped by the fact that there are too many annoying characters in the Harry Potter book that I am currently listening to (Chamber of Secrets even comes below the incredibly flawed premise in the Goblet of Fire that no inter-schools competition in which children have died should be allowed to continue), but by the time I hit the mud baths outside of Saundersfoot, I was fuming.

There are only a few places that I have visited on the coast path so far that I am confident I will not be coming back to, but this is one of them. Overgrown gorse bushes, broken steps and mud. So much mud.

I did complete my weather-reduced plans for the day and made it to Tenby. But I was not happy about it.
