Run Britain Day 6: From Maldon to Burnham-on-Crouch

I am normally quite disparaging of storms in Britain being given names. But after spending 6 hours running a marathon in Storm Benjamin on a barren stretch of the Essex coastline was an experience that I think warranted a name.

The first few miles out of Maldon with the storm behind were fine. The southward stretch along the Dengie Nature Park was also bearable. Heading up the Crouch into a 50mph headwind was incredibly painful.

I am sure that Dengie area of coastline is peaceful and charming on calm, sunny days. Today was not one of those days. It was bleak and lonely and miserable.
