Run Britain Day 56: Barry to Porthcawl

I’ve ended week eight with a big day and hard push to Porthcawl. A little over 51km is my biggest day of running so far and I loved it. Most of today has been pretty flat and the sun has come out properly which gave me slightly more daylight than I have had in the last few weeks.

Although the continued mud did mean I retreated to the road for a few miles. Mud makes it ridiculously hard to run without slipping over. And although I don’t mind the odd slip, running a marathon in a swamp takes too long.

I didn’t get to see Porthcawl properly because it was truly dark by the time I finished - still not my favourite way to end the day. But it feels like I am now running into more rural Wales, which is a relief after the pretty grim coast path around Cardiff. And I was reunited with Shadow (and Dad and Charlie), which is a great way to end the week.
