Run Britain Day 47: Widemouth to Clovelly
It took me 33 days to run to Cornwall and 13 days to run around its entire coastline. A coastline which is beautiful and rugged and magical. I’ve made friends and memories to last a lifetime in this magical corner of Britain.
Today I crossed the ‘border’ back into Devon accompanied by Sarah (who has become the biggest running contributor to Run Britain) and Kate. Sharing more amazing miles with them has helped reinforce what Run Britain is all about - celebrating Britain and getting people talking.
It helped that it was a beautiful sunny morning and this section of the coast path feels like something from a fantasy film.
We stopped briefly in the Writer’s Hut, which is the former writing spot of poet Ronald Duncan. It enjoys fantastic views over the sea and is now open to anyone to sit and rest a while, or share their own story in the notebook.
A final Cornish Pasty to power the second leg of the day. A day that ended in darkness, having started just before sunrise. I’ve used all the hours of daylight today to complete 46km and 1800m of elevation. Far and away my biggest stint yet. And one that I am quite proud of.
