Run Britain Day 25: From Lymington to Swanage
Today I was asked the question I have been desperate for someone to ask. “How far are you running?”
I was on a lovely part of the cliff top outside of Lymington and a clearly very good runner caught me up. We exchanged the usual running pleasantries (‘bit windy out’, ‘lovely views though’.)
And then she asked how far I was going. So I was able to say, “actually, I am going all the way around the coastline.” It was a very exciting moment. We shared some miles, talked about what I was doing and why I was doing it.
It turns out she is as good a runner as she looked and had run a self-supported loop of the Isle of Wight in about 20 hours to celebrate her fiftieth birthday a few years ago.
I left her energised for the rest of my 50km day into Swanage. A really magical section of coastline, which included the best beach I’ve been to so far. Studland has topped my beach list, even with the roaring wind blowing sand in my face.
