Run Britain Day 24: From Southampton to Lymington
Today Run Britain was a lot of fun.
After sending three separate voice notes to tell people about the boiled eggs in my pocket, I decided to make a video for Instagram and then laughed for at least 45 minutes about that. (It made the first 8km quite slow, but the time flew).
Then it rained so I went into a beautiful hotel in Bealiue where they were hanging Christmas decorations and asked them if I could use their facilities to get changed. (I’ve never been so happy to see a bathroom with towels).
I made the decision to cut through the New Forest because my bag was heavy and I wanted it off my back as soon as possible.
I made it back to the coast at Lymington which is the most spectacular bit of scenery yet. With the Isle of Wight and the Needles in the background, I sat and appreciated being by the sea in the sunshine again.
And then I tried to walk through a massive puddle before getting rescued by my wonderful host for the evening.
I don’t know what has changed about my mindset. It might have been the laughter at the boiled eggs, it might be the fact that I have made it to Dorset (and that feels monumental). It might be the hope that tomorrow I will be running again. It is definitely nice to be feeling like I am enjoying myself again.
