Run Britain Day 150: Around the Dornoch Firth

The journey from days one to 50 felt like an eternity. In fact, every one of those days in the first quarter felt like incredibly hard work.

The third quarter has past by in a flash. I feel like I blinked on day 100 and now we’re here, staring down the final quarter. I am more determined than ever to squeeze as much positivity as possible out of this final quarter.

Day 150 started in a bad place. A toilet-related bad place. Others have written about the digestive issues that come with multi-day endurance challenges, especially those which are undertaken with the support of a campervan. And although I love a toilet joke (more than any other joke) I am not sure whether I am yet ready for the internet to know the full extent of issues I have encountered. And, to be honest, it’s hard to write down without sounding crass. It’s a funny story though, perhaps I’ll find the appropriate format to tell it one day.

I laughed a lot as I was setting off and I was still laughing 10 miles later when I caught up with Lottie at Bonar Bridge. Perhaps it was the relief of a break in the wind - I had decided to run inland around the Dornoch Firth, rather than facing the elements over the A9 bridge.

Lottie met me in Tain (which has the best train station I have ever been in - to use the toilet) with a banner to celebrate day 150 and a present. The only downside of today was my lack of shower - the first day in 150 that I have been without one.
