Run Britain Day 15: Folkestone to Dungeness

On the drive back to Folkestone Harbour to start day 15, we laughed at Harry for bringing his sunglasses. The wind was swirling and the clouds were bleak. It had been raining all morning.

But by the time we’d left Folkestone along the promenade, heading round the bay with Dungeness power station in the background, the clouds had cleared and the sea was starting to sparkle.

A whole day running along paved, flat surfaces was a real relief. And having company for the whole day made it fly by.

We popped into Auntie Alice as we ran through Greatstone - the village right next to Dungeness where she has lived in the house that her Dad built 95 years ago.

Dungeness is a bit of a bleak environment. It’s technically a desert and is one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world - not the best for running on. But we made it to the lighthouse wile the sun was still shining and back in time of the house for a 120-person wedding cake. The perfect end to a big day of running.
