Run Britain Day 103-106: Stranraer to Glasgow

Everything speeds up a bit once you can run in one direction without dodging around lochs. It’s taken just four days of running to power up the coast to Glasgow, despite the challenge of sometimes running along A roads.

The west coast of Scotland continues to be incredibly friendly. In Ayr, I was joined by Brian and Tom (who has run every day for the last six and a half years). Slightly further up the coast path Scott joined the gang, with tales of his whiskey business. And in Fairlie, we were joined by David (by then it was the weekend again so Kat had come back for another marathon).

The coastline was also far nicer than I pictured it was going to be south of Glasgow and it was only once we had turned the corner and were well and truly running down the Clyde that things started to get a bit more grim.

This part of the coastline is also the land of the golf course, the most magnificent of which is Trump Turnberry. I tend to shy away from links golf - it’s too hard - but this is a magical course which I would love to play. But ideally as someone’s guest. At over £500 a round I feel the pressure on playing well would be too great.
