Run Britain Day 53: From Burnham-on-Sea to Cleveden
The west coast of Britain was today hit by severe weather warnings and another named storm. This is definitely my third of Run Britain so far, but it may be more because I haven’t been on top of the news.
I wish I could say that the storm disappointed, but it didn’t. At least the wind was behind me though - I spent the morning being pushed along by 50mph gales with my back being soaked by horizontal rain.
I’m not sure if Burnham Beach or Weston Beach are ever beautiful, but the weather definitely didn’t help. The turquoise waters and beautiful cliff tops of Cornwall and Devon are now well and truly behind me. Today was grey. Grey sand, grey water, grey sky.
By the afternoon the wind had died down but the rain became more vertical and more of a deluge. I was soaked. But enjoying running along flat, tarmac (although the odd field did disrupt my flow a little bit).
But I have survived the storm and completed the marathon distance despite the crazy weather. And that is a win.
