Run Britain Day 27: Weymouth to Abbotsbury
Something has changed about Run Britain.
I’m still hobbling around when I’m not running. I still have worse blisters than I could ever have imagined. My body is still reacting violently to what I am putting it through by breaking out in the most horrific night sweats when I am trying to get rest. And I am still struggling not to lose a quite worrying amount of weight.
But I am really enjoying myself.
The Dorset coast has a magic to it which is making all the aches and pains disappear during the day while I am running. And the people who have welcomed me into their homes in the last couple of days have made the experience even more special.
Today is the first day for a while that I have spent fully on my own. And although it was a longer day than planned (because I kept stopping to take photos), I had such a great time. I was even singing loudly as I covered a surprise 2000ft of elevation around the Isle of Portland.
Another incredible day of running on this special stretch of coastline. And I have just paid £13 for two meals, plus a starter and a sugary drink in the restaurant in my Premier Inn. Dorset, you’re smashing it.
