Run Britain Day 158: Mosstodloch to Portsoy

I woke up feeling up for a strong and fast marathon and set off with that attitude. The wind agreed and was very much on my back.

The only complaint I would make about today’s running conditions was the sand. The wind stirred up a hurricane of sand off the beach and the fields which weren’t especially pleasant.

My run took longer than I would have liked (coast paths aren’t the best places for particularly quick marathons), but I still made it to our wonderful campsite at Portsoy in time to enjoy the afternoon properly.

Portsoy is a special place. Perhaps one of the places I have felt most at home on the whole journey around Britain. The campsite on the beach gave us a free electric hookup for the night and made me feel like a celebrity. The fish and chip shop in town was phenomenal and the ice cream shop had more flavours than I had ever seen.

They also let us try four flavours for the price of two scoops. If you are ever in Portsoy around easter time, get the hot cross bun flavoured ice cream - it is special.
